Pope & Meads Timeline

  • 1949 - Founding by John Mead & Eddie Pope
  • 1953 – Limited Company
  • 1959 – Moved to bigger premises (Ware Dockyard Site, this factory previously produced barges before P&M moved in)
  • 1969 – Site expansion, (Doubled size to accommodate new offices & factory space, around 15 staff)
  • 1988 – John Mead Retired shortly followed by Eddie Pope
  • 1993 – Spicer Consulting (Denis Spicer Owner) purchased P&M as they required an engineering company for their increasing success with their Field Cancelling Systems
  • 1993 – ISO 9001 Registered (Original Registration Date: 13/09/1993)

Pope & Meads Timeline

  • 2001 – Denis Spicer Retires, His son Steve Spicer becomes P&M’s owner. (Current owner)
  • 2011 – Moved to current premises due to increased demand & space required.
  • 2014 – Mezzanine expansion due to increased assembly requirements.
  • 2019 – Additional building expansion of site.
  • 2025 – Joined Joscar, additional site development
  • 2026 – Joined Make UK Defence. Inspection department expanded, stores expanded. 42 staff currently
